Higher Institute of English
The primary mission of the Higher Institute of English is to support Mauritania to gain greater access to the international community and global economy by raising standards and levels of competence in English across Mauritanian society.
The offer of a degree in International Communication Studies through the medium of English aims to provide undergraduates with the skills required to enter the workforce, both locally and internationally, with a competitive advantage. HIE is also tasked with the design and delivery of quality English language training to government employees, military personnel and those in the private sector.
English language teachers in the national education system are to be given support to enhance their professional skills, competencies and teaching techniques suitable for the 21st century classroom.
